About the Customer

The customer is a well-known leading shipping line currently performing an ambitious ship building program in Korea in order to expand and modernize it’s fleet with the target to minimize the transport costs per cargo unit and to sustain its competitive position in the market, which is currently under immense pressure due to the number of operated vessels worldwide. Due to this reason the new class of ships currently under construction will feature several energy saving aspects aiming for reduction of operating costs of these units.

Testimonial from Сustomer

The customer was very satisfied with the way the deliveries were organized. Further the customer has appreciated the manager’s support, especially during the beginning phase where usually a certain number of problems have to be solved, like for example the exchange of qualities and quantities for certain items. As a result of these efforts done by the manager the customer has awarded the entire initial supplies for the whole series of new ships to the managers employer.

Situation (Challenge)

The challenge the owner has faced was to provide these new vessels with the initial supplies of diverse technical consumables required by the crew for operating the ship after takeover from the constructing shipyard. At the same time the owner was facing constraints to keep these supplies within a tight budget. However the market price locally in Korea for these around 2500 different items required was far beyond from what the budget allowed.

Solution (Achievement)

The solution was provided finally by the manager, who has offered to the customer a well sourced and competitive package for these initial supplies, that enabled the customer to stay within budget and on schedule, although the delivery was originated from Singapore and has been shipped to Korea by container.
